RESIDENTS of Turfpan Shongo Village, outside Lebowakgomo in Limpopo, are still waiting for their RDPs to be built. This is 13 years after the slab foundations meant for their houses were left unfinished in 2006.DA leader in Limpopo Jacques Smalle said they will meet the human settlements department to seek answers and ensure that people got what belonged to them.According to Smalle, they found 26 unfinished houses as well as toilets left by the contractor. “We were shocked to find that people are still waiting for houses which they applied for 13 years ago,” he said.“The worrying part is that some of the beneficiaries have since died,’ he said. “Their toilets were also left half done by the contractor and nobody is saying anything to the community about the matter.”Lepelle-Nkumpi municipal spokesman Mokgadi Maubane said they will have to check with all the partners working on the project. Human settlements said it was planning to finish the shoddy work left by the contractors. Spokesman Paena Galane said some of the contracts were terminated due to their failure to finish the work.“The MEC had instructed the head of department to attend to these beneficiaries.”
