Status: 60% Contained, with one fire line that can still spread and cause damage.
The priority is to contain and get the active fire lines in Disa kloof area out- Div A as shown on the latest burn area map. Estimated area burned is 5600ha. Of the overall area the majority is in the Kogelberg NR.
No further damage to infrastructure and two minor injuries reported the past 48h – sprained ankles.
The fire line that moved into the Overberg District municipalities’ area of responsibility has been extinguished before reaching productive agricultural areas
City of Cape Town is busy suppressing the fire line above Clarence drive, this fire reached their area last evening. Clarence drive will remain closed throughout the night and will only reopen tomorrow morning approximately 9h00.
Our support team is functioning very well and we are happy to report that the unified command structure, that was in place to manage this incident, was critical and the cooperation between the agencies, neighbouring municipalities, service providers, community and PDMC is to be commended.
