Sep 27, 2018Uitenhage police are continuing with their efforts to effectively address crime by seizing drugs and arresting those involved.”Members from SAPS Kamesh followed up on information and immediately obtained a search warrant on Wednesday night, at about 20:15, which led to the arrest of a 50-year-old male suspect,” described police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.”The suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation that was conducted at a residence in Kamesh Road, Uitenhage.”The suspect will face a charge of illegal dealing of drugs, after 150 mandrax tablets and R6 932 cash was found in his possession. “The value of the confiscations amounted to almost R16 000.”The 50-year-old male suspect is expected to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court soon.Uitenhage police to continue with drug seizuresActing Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll, said: “Police visibility will be enhanced in the Uitenhage Cluster and the SAPS will continue to conduct random stop-and-search operations in the Uitenhage Cluster. “The purpose of these operations are to effectively address these crime generators and we need to ensure that our communities are rid of illegal substances.” The South African Police Service called upon the community to work with the SAPS in reducing crime and they appeal to the community to provide valuable information that will lead to the arrest of suspects involved in crime. “Let us share information and support each other in the fight against crime.
