By Afikile Lugunya – Jan 30, 2019Police in Humansdorp arrested a 60-year-old man after finding him in possession of an unlicensed 9mm firearm, two magazines with several 9mm rounds, 36 Tik straws, 6g of dagga, 108 Mandrax tablets worth R64 800 and cash to the amount of R5 673.The man was arrested early on Wednesday morning, at around 01:45, in Pendoring Street, Kruisfontein, Humansdorp. According to police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, the suspect faces the following charges: illegal possession of a firearm; illegal possession of ammunition and illegal dealing in drugs.He is expected to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.Humansdorp police to continue fighting crime”Police visibility will be enhanced in the Humansdorp Cluster and SAPS will conduct random stop-and-search and intelligence-driven operations to effectively deal with crime generators to ensure that our communities are rid of illegal substances,” Captain Swart said.The Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok, said: “We will continue with our actions to clamp down on drug outlets in the Humansdorp Cluster, as several cases stems from drug posts”. “The South African Police Service call upon the community to work with the SAPS in reducing crime and they appeal to the community to provide valuable information that will lead to the arrest of suspects involved in crime. “Let us share information and support each other in the fight against crime.
