The seized mandrax tablets, which is worth R5, 000.

Verulam SAPS conducted numerous weekend operations, which resulted in a number of arrests and the recovery of drugs with a street value in excess of R5, 000.

Sgt Dayalan Naicker, together with officers from the crime prevention unit, were patrolling the Trenance Park area when they conducted a stop and search operation. They arrested a man for being in possession of 77 mandrax tablets.
Five suspects were also arrested for the possession of capsules, suspected to be heroin and cocaine.
There were two arrests made for drunken driving and one arrest made for dealing in liquor without a licence.

Communications officer of Verulam SAPS, Cpt Henry Kisten said, “Police officers were lauded by the station commander, Brig Dludla, for their dedication in effecting arrests with the large quantity of drugs.”
