A local entrepreneur who started walking from Pretoria towards Cape Town three months ago…

A local entrepreneur who started walking from Pretoria towards Cape Town three months ago has told learners in the Garden Routethat it’s important to become a job creator rather than a job seeker. Dr Nico De Klerk is on a mission to educate the youth about starting their own businesses. Along the way, he visits schools in township communities. De Klerk says that besides opening their minds to being entrepreneurs, he also wants to teach them the importance of self-worth: “It’s a matter of drawing a line and focus all that energy on the future. in terms of self-worth it is going be a challenge to redefine personal challenges and to bring about that change in the mind-set for persons, individuals, learners and the unemployed to believe in themselves to move forward, that is a critical point for any individual.” De Klerk’s Long Walk will end at Parliament in Cape Town on the 24th of November.
