A sod turning ceremony has taken place in Gugulethu to launch a 94-million rand housing project. The development will see close to 600 units being built by the end of March next year. The construction site is located near the Gugulethu Electricity Depot. City of Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Malusi Booi, says the development’s close proximity to transport networks, will allow residents easier access to employment opportunities. “We building about 570 units on that particular project. It’s valued at 94 million rand. It’s a 12 month project. Contractors are getting on site from today so we should be done in the next 12 months. It’s very close to a transport node and also there are businesses in and around that particular area so it will be good for the people that will be staying there.”

  1. There should be 1000 thousand houses delivered every week. For a long Time. Then perhaps we will all have a house. It needs to go on all the time.
