A South African free diver has arrived in Finland in an attempt to beat…

A South African free diver has arrived in Finland in an attempt to beat a Guiness World Record for free diving as part of raising awareness about mental health. Amber Fillary’s record for holding her breath underwater is six minutes and she will on Thursday attempt to dive 50 metre under the ice, only wearing a swimsuit, mask and cap. The current record holder, Johanna Nordblat, set the world record in March 2015. Fillary has had to deal with depression and addiction for many years and says she is extremely excited by the opportunity to challenge herself in this way.
