Acting Judge of the Land Claims Court, Thembela Ngcukaitobi, has lambasted government for not following through on its promises made to land claimants of District Six. Ngcukaitobi read out a statement made by former President Jacob Zuma in September 2012 that 700-million-rand was available for the development of District Six. Ngcukaitobi wanted to know from Land Reform Minister, Maite Nkoane-Mashabane, what had happened to the money and the promise. Nkoane-Mashabane has been hauled before the court in Cape Town to explain the delays in resettling the more than a thousand land claimants.

  1. Excuse me. Not only district six has claimants. There’s other people from other areas thats waiting to.

  2. SAD indictment of how some communities are being treated as second-class citizens in a country founded on sound democratic & constitutional principles. Have tribalism & regionalism (provincialism) eventually taken root in Africa’s beacon of hope? What are my chances as an INDIGENOUS NAMA/KHOE (KHOI)/GRIEKWA (GRIQUA)?
