31 AUGUST 2018
After consistent shootings and gang related activity in the Bonteheuwel area a meeting today was called for Community Based Organisations Leadership and Religious Leaders including CPF Chairperson Graham Lindhorst.
We all agreed that we all shared the same concern and that fighting gangsterism and bringing an end to the scourge was the only outcome we desired out of this.
The meeting was open and transparent and Chaired by Bonteheuwel Baptist Church Pastor Llewellyn Clayton.
An action plan was put in place and road map for implementation by Leaders of the Community was tabled.
The issues of gang violence cannot solely be addressed by an individual however it will take a united effort to overcome the challenges and this was illustrated in the manner in which the meeting was conducted and finished. Bonteheuwel is united!
All organisatioins present including, Bluegum Walking Ladies, APD Disabled People, Bonteheuwel Youth Soccer, Ozzies, Bonteheuwel Walking Ladies, Bonteheuwel Informal Traders, Neighborhood Watch, Concerned Residents, the CPF and various Religious Leaders all agreed to moving forward together and united for the sake of the people of Bonteheuwel.
Follow up meetings will proceed from this in addressing the problem together.
Bonteheuwel will only work when we all work together!
