An acclaimed new South African play set against the background of the Anglo Boer…

An acclaimed new South African play set against the background of the Anglo Boer War 120 years ago, titled Kamphoer- has premièred at the Artscape Theatre in the Mother City. The play, based on Francois Smit’s crowned novel, tells the true story of Susan Nell who was raped in one of the British concentration camps in the Free State at the time, and left for dead. Years later her path crosses with that of her rapist. The doyenne of South African Theatre, Sandra Prinsloo portrays the lead character in the production directed by Lara Foot. This show is part of a number of productions and activities on Artscape’s Women Humanity Art Festival this month to commemorate Women’s Month.

The pictures below feature Marlene Le Roux from Artscape, theatre master- David Kramer, Karen Visagie from Goodhope fm, Sarel Meintjes from SABC News and Vernon Humphreys)
