ANC members have staged a walkout of the Western Cape Provincial Legislature amid Premier, Helen Zille’s, final state of the province address. The action follows continued heckling by the opposition who argued that the true state of the province is contrary to what the Premier is presenting. Zille has told the gathering that the province has the lowest unemployment rate in the country, has a 72% success rate on land reform and has spent 82% of the provincial government budget on the poor. ANC leader of the opposition, Khaya Magaxa, says they can no longer continue to listen to what he called distorted facts about the real situation in the province. Earlier, Zille said the province had received the highest number of clean audits in the country in 2018/19 across all departments. Zille says this makes the provincial government the the cleanest in the country. She says 508 000 jobs since the start of her first term.
