Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has been honoured for the important role he played in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission process. He was honoured in Stellenbosch yesterday during the 20th anniversary of the handing over of the TRC report. Tutu chaired the TRC from 1996 to 1998. The gathering also paid tribute to the late former TRC deputy chairperson, Dr Alex Boraine who passed away last week at the age of 87. Tutu who was accompanied by his wife Leah, commended those who played a role in the struggle for South Africa’s freedom.
