Police bust alleged drug dealer with R25k drug stash in South Coast
The Provincial Drug Unit members tasked to root out drug trade and drug use in the KwaZulu-Natal province arrested two suspects aged 26 and 29. Police recovered drugs with a street value of more than R30 000 and more than R5, 000 cash suspected to be proceeds from drug trade.
An operation was conducted yesterday night when police pounced on the suspect (26) in Wade Road, Ezimangweni area and a number of drugs were found. Police recovered 71 packets with meth, six packets with cocaine powder, four packets with magic mushrooms, 13 LSD pieces and R400 cash. The confiscated drugs have a street value of more than R25 000. The suspect was taken to KwaMakhutha police station for detention and was charged for dealing in drugs. He will appear in the Nsimbini Magistrates’ Court on 13 August 2018.
Another operation was conducted on Women’s Day, where a 29-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of drugs. The suspect was arrested in Harvey Road, Morningside, and four full moons of rock cocaine with R5, 000 cash were seized by the police. The recovered drugs had a street value of more than R6, 000. The suspect appeared in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 10 August 2018. Police will continue with similar operations to eliminate the proliferation of drugs in the province.
