At +/- 14h10 on Saterday 08/08/15, one of our clients Mr Daneel phoned in to report that his wife was just attacked. Mrs Daneel was cycling on the Waterworks rd oppisite Firgrove station when a man attacked her and hit her over the arm with a pole and grabbed her fairly new Momsen mountain bike. The info that came through was that it is a bravo male wearing black clothing and was heading towards Croyden. HCW/Vetus Armed Response officer Aslaam responded and was in the vicinity of Croyden within 4 min. Searching the area and all the back roads without any luck, he made his way back to the scene of the incident. He met up with Mr Daneel, who gave additional info in regards to the mountain bike. Aslaam then went back to search the area again and took the turnoff just after Croyden estate leading to Macassar. He spotted a guy on a bike almost at the top of the bridge and picked up speed. The suspect spotted him and jumped off the bike, he lifted the bike over the side railings and ran down hill into the bushes. Aslaam stopped his vehicle and gave chase after the suspect who then already had about a 80m head start, he gained distance on him when he dropped the bike and fled into the bushes. The bike was recovered without any damage. Great work to our HCW/Vetus team member!
