Various law enforcement agencies were part of the apprehension of three suspects.
Three robbers, who allegedly followed their victims to and from banks around Gauteng, were arrested in Centurion today.
The suspects have been arrested on multiple charges, according to police spokesperson Augustinah Selepe.
Three unlicensed firearms and ammunition were seized during the operation.
A tip-off was received regarding the robberies in Centurion.
Three suspects were apprehended close to Mall @ Reds.
Selepe said that three suspects were driving a Kia Sportage with false registration plates.
“Officers were placed in strategic positions on the lookout for the vehicle. They spotted the vehicle driving in the direction towards the Mall @ Reds. An operational plan was executed, The vehicle was stopped vehicle and the suspects apprehended before they could escape,” said Selepe.
Unlicensed firearms and ammunition were visible inside the vehicle.
“The suspects have been arrested in the past for similar crimes around Gauteng and other provinces,” concluded Selepe.
Tshwane District Commissioner Major-General Daniel Mthombeni commended officers for their swift implementation activation plan that resulted in the arrest of three suspects.
He thanked various law enforcement agencies, Tshwane district SAPS trio task team, Tracker Connect, Absa Investigations.
