Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato says three people have been killed in continuing gang…

Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato says three people have been killed in continuing gang violence in Delft on the Cape Flats. He says he’s concerned about the violence in the area despite interventions to fight the scourge. Plato says he supports an initiative to promote peace and create a safe environment on the Cape Flats spearheaded by SABC radio station Good Hope FM. He’s called on Cape Town communities to continue working with city authorities and the provincial government to make their neighbourhoods safer. “Delft is identified by the police as one of the red hot gangster areas in Cape Town, so we deploy quite a number of neighbourhood teams in Delft. So it’s unfortunate that these ad hoc incidents happen in Delft looking at the resources we put in that area, but I am aware of the shooting incidents.”
