Chairperson of Parliament’s portfolio committee on Police, Francois Beukman has accused private forensic investigator…

Chairperson of Parliament’s portfolio committee on Police, Francois Beukman has accused private forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan of trying to intimidate committee members. O’Sullivan has sent an email via his organisation – Forensic for Justice – in which he informs them of his intention to conduct a detailed forensic investigation into its members. He also accused the committee of carrying out state capture. Today is the deadline for Parliament’s police committee to report back to the Gauteng High court on whether they agree with Police minister, Bheki Cele’s decision not to renew the contract of the head of the IPID head, Robert McBride. McBride took Cele to court – saying the decision on his contract must be taken by the portfolio committee. Beukman says the threat is very concerning. “I must really express my shock and dismay, at some of the documents and whatsapps that members have received. It is really unacceptable. Members cant be put under undue pressure on behalf of lobby groups or individuals. It cant be done! “
