The scene of an accident on the R102 between the Ottawa and Verulam intersection, which claimed the life of a little boy, remained sombre as the relevant personnel conducted their investigations, on Sunday.
It is believed that the child, who was estimated to be between the ages of six and eight, was attempted the cross the north bound lane when he was run over.

Local security company, Reaction Unit South Africa, responded to the scene after 4:14pm.
They were informed that the critically injured child required urgent medical assistance.
When they arrived at the scene, they found that the child had already succumbed to his extensive injuries.

“According to the driver, he was travelling on the left lane when he noticed a group of children standing at the side of the road. The child suddenly ran into the flow of traffic, giving the driver little time to react, resulting in him being run over,” a report issued by the security company indicated.
It is alleged that the remaining children fled the scene following the accident.
