Cape Town killer evades police for two years, finally caught hiding in his parent’s closet
Ziyaad Haywood managed to escape capture for two years, but his luck ran out following an impromptu police visit to his parent’s house last month.
The 34-year-old Lotus River local was placed on the Western Province’s top 10 most wanted list in 2016, after he allegedly shot and killed a security guard, Herman Hendricks, at China Town in Ottery.
As reported by the Daily Voice, Haywood was discovered hiding in his parent’s home following an anonymous tip-off to investigating officers. Stranger still is the role Haywood’s parents played in harbouring their fugitive son.
Hiding in secret closet
Haywood’s parent’s home in Tsessebe Way, Lotus River, had been searched many times in the past, as investigators believed they may uncover evidence as to his whereabouts by inspecting his last known address.
