In our regular Democracy Gauge feature, you rate our democracy with three colours. Green means that our democracy is healthy. Yellow means that we must be careful. And red means that our democracy is in danger. In our journey across the country, we stop in Port Elizabeth today and meet Minnie Trimmaley, a retired teacher from the gangster ridden area of Helenvale in the Northern suburbs of the city. She has devoted her life to the upliftment of children in this area. Minnie is excited about democracy in our country and lauds Nelson Mandela for rescuing the country from the struggle.
Veronica Fourie produced today’s Democracy Gauge. It acknowledges all citizens and is powered by SABC News.
