The leader of the Democratic Liberal Party, Patrick Pillay during the DLC manifesto launch on February 7 at the Shastri Park Hall.

“EFF leader, Julius Malema must stop his vitriol attacks against Indians or face the consequences at the polls on May 8. The Democratic Liberal Congress (DLC) will not tolerate his reckless utterances that seek to divide and incite racial divisions within our country,” said leader of the DLC, Patrick Pillay.
He was responding to the statements made by Malema at the Chatsworth Stadium, recently.

“The Indian community are citizens of South Africa. I am proudly South African and a son of the African soil. You will not impose your ideologies of purpose unto any person or community. Your nonsensical utterances only seek to divide a nation and incite racial tension,” said Cllr Pillay.
He expressed that Indians, irrespective of their financial constraints, have for decades provided an opportunity for people to work as helpers in their homes and have provided people with an income and a means to live.

Pillay further declared that the choice on whether a person wants to work or not is absolutely their own prerogative and if any person is aggrieved by their earning, they have a right to lodge a grievance with the respective institutions.
He indicated that his forefathers lived during trying times, have worked very hard and toiled the soil to develop their families and the South African economy. Indians are nation builders and believe in social cohesion.

“Malema and the EFF can never legislate and dictate to the Indian community on how people should be paid. Payments of domestic workers are directed by acts of parliament. His latest utterances are just a vote catching exercise and are merely a means to stir up problems and divide an inclusive society of South Africans,” Cllr Pillay said.
He conveyed that leaders in our democracy are duty bound to conduct themselves appropriately and direct all focus and energy towards building a nation where all South Africans live in peace and harmony.
