A doctor was stabbed in his thigh and nine others were robbed at his surgery in Allingstone Place, Phoenix on Thursday.
One of the victims, a receptionist at the doctor’s office, alleged that she was at her work place when a patient went out of the room and three unknown men pushed their way into the surgery with a gift bag in hand.

One of the suspects took a firearm out of the bag and demanded cellphones and cash from the six patients waiting to see the doctor, a medical rep and the two receptionists.
Seven cellphones and cash to the value of R7, 500 were taken.
Cpt Nqobile Gwala of provincial police, said, “Two men went into the doctor’s consulting rooms and pointed the firearm at his head. They demanded to know where the safe was kept. When the doctor told them he does not keep a safe, he was stabbed in his left thigh.”

Cpt Gwala said the men fled the scene on foot with eight cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Cpt Louise Naidoo, communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, said, “A case of robbery was opened at the Phoenix police station and is currently under investigation. No arrests have been made yet.”
