Doctors and dentists by day, but pianists by night … over 20 of the world’s top amateur and professional pianists are in Cape Town for the tenth anniversary season of the acclaimed Les Amateurs Virtuoses French Piano Festival taking place from this weekend. The soloists from among other France, Russia, Germany, America, Canada and South Africa, will present master classes and perform chamber music in the Mother City, Langa and Stellenbosch over a ten-day period. Two performances, the first this Saturday at the Cape Town City Hall, and the other the following Saturday afternoon in Langa, will feature a group of 40 young violinists from the Muzu-kidz non profit organisation. The festival’s finale will take place next Sunday evening in the Cape Town City Hall when six pianists will be playing movements from five classical piano concertos accompanied by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
