To celebrate heroines in the home around the country, Hirsch’s has been running a Domestic Worker of the Month competition, whereby employers nominate their domestic workers for the title.
This month, the group officially kicked off the exciting competition for 2019 and it was Zama Ndlazi, who took home the title.
A domestic workers course was also held at the Ballito branch.
The competition is aimed at acknowledging domestic workers and the work they do. The monthly winners each receive a Hirsch’s voucher and a certificate.

Zama was nominated by her employer, Kerri Farlam who said, “Zama is nothing short of exceptional! The way she is able to juggle all her responsibilities is truly amazing and we are so grateful to have her in our lives. From our early days as a young couple through to our wedding day, buying a home and the birth of daughter, Zama has been with us through thick and thin. She is a blessing to our family and the apple of our little girl’s eye. We could not wish for a better domestic worker and feel that she is most definitely deserving of the title. For us, she has earned the title of ‘Domestic Worker of the Decade’.”
The course consisted of a basic cooking demonstration and a lesson on cleaning and maintaining appliances.
Each lady received a certificate of completion for attending the course.
