WHEN cops patrolling saw the right rear door of a vehicle wasn’t properly closed, they pulled it over. But before they could reach the Hyundai Getz, three of the occupants jumped out and ran into the dark, leaving the driver to face the music. And when he couldn’t explain how the firearm safes containing rifles and handguns and other goods came into his possession, he was bust. The incident happened near Danielskuil in the Northern Cape on Sunday, just after midnight. Police spokesman Captain Thabo Litabe said two constables from the Danielskuil police searched the car and found one rifle safe, a handgun safe, a Canon Camera, a Vodafone handset, a Telefunken TV and a hand tool. “The suspect (31) was arrested and charged with housebreaking and theft while his vehicle was also confiscated by the police. “The safes were still intact, with firearms contained inside.“He’ll appear before the magistrates court in Danielskuil soon.”
