Drunken driver arrested with 13-children in the taxi

The City of Cape Towns Traffic Services Ghost Team Members arrested two taxi drivers earlier this afternoon for drunken driving in separate incidents.

At 16:14 pm an officer arrived at a side swipe where a motor vehicle and a taxi collided on the N2 heading towards the M5. Fortunately no injuries occurred, however the taxi driver who had 13 children between the age of 7-17 years old in his taxi was arested for driving under the influence of alcohol. After an alcohol test confirmed that he had consumed 1.72mg/L alcohol he was apprehended and taken to Mowbray SAPS.

In a separate incident in 16:25pm on the M5 outgoing at Berckley Road, an officer stopped a taxi for overtaking on the shoulder of the Road. The officer immediately noticed that the driver was under influence, and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was tested and the results showed he 6.6mg/L The taxi driver and his 15 passengers was taken to Maitland police station.
