Duo blamed for car break-ins at East London malls finally runs out of luck

Apr 5, 2019There had been a worrying spate of car break-ins at the Vincent and Hemingways malls in East LondonEast London – A police task team in Cambridge, East London, arrested two men, aged between 23 and 26 years of age, following an attempted car break-in.”The two were caught by the owner in Vincent, East London, on Wednesday when they were already fiddling inside the vehicle, but managed to flee in a white VW Polo,” described police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi.”Fortunately, the owner was vigilant enough to take that car’s registration number.”He said that investigation ensued and the suspects were traced to a house at NU11, Mdantsane, outside East London, and where they were arrested.”Police then searched the house and found a black bag containing cellphones, 3G cards, hard drives, routers, various luxury car keys, computer mouses, headphones, remote controls, wrist watches and a rubber stamp signature,” Capt Mbi said.”The Cambridge station commander Brigadier Pumla Mdlankomo had been particularly concerned about the increase in cases of car break-ins, especially at the Vincent and Hemingways malls.”East London police appeal to residents to come forward and claim items recovered from suspectsHe has has welcomed this breakthrough and also thanked the woman for her vigilance in taking down the registration number of the duo’s getaway car.”In the same breath, she has requested anyone who can positively identify any of these recovered items to come to the Cambridge police station,” Capt Mbi said.”Shoppers are advised to ensure that their vehicles are properly locked before walking away, never leave valuable items in the car clearly visible and always be aware of your surroundings as sometimes jamming devices are used.”The suspects will appear before the East London magistrate’s court on Monday.”Follow more RNEWS articles, subscribe to our YouTube channel and for breaking news LIKE us on Facebook.
