DURBAN North SAPS has opened a case of attempted murder following an altercation and shooting on Palm Boulevard in uMhlanga on Friday night. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, several shots were fired in last night’s exchange.
“At this stage we are unsure of the circumstances leading up to the shooting but it was between two groups of men. Four people were shot and injured in the shootout. Police officers responding to the scene seized three firearms. We believe more than 15 shots were fired. Our investigations are ongoing but I can confirm we’ve opened a case of attempted murder,” he said.

Several store front windows on Palm Boulevard were damaged in the shootout.
It is believed one of the four people injured in the shootout was a security official on duty in the area.
