During the early hours of Friday morning, 23rd of October 2015 at 02h25, HCW/Vetus Schola Armed Response Officer Chris Du Toit was on patrol in an area that has recently had a number of burglaries (attempted and actual) Chris then spotted a suspicious looking individual approaching in his direction down St. James Street.
The man entered every driveway down the street and when he spotted Officer Chris, he tried to alter his direction. This seemed odd and the Officer decided to investigate further by apprehending the suspect, who quite willingly subjected himself to a search. A routine search yielded nothing, but when Officer Chris searched the man’s pants, he found a large quantity of narcotics (Mandrax, as well as Tik), housebreaking equipment, a Polo key nut (to enable the theft of wheels) and a dangerous weapon in his possession.
He was subsequently handed over to the SAPS and charged for the possession of narcotics and housebreaking equipment.
