Dec 21, 2018East London Vispol members attended a complaint that there were people fishing with a treknet, stakednet or fykenet without a license at Bridle Drift dam on Thursday.”On their arrival, they found three suspects – a father,mother and son, aged 57, 50 and 21 years respectively,” said police spokesperson, Captain Hazel Mqala.”The members also found a White Hundai truck with the nets for netting.”Upon their futher investigation, they found three freezers with fish at their home at Sheridan Street in Amalinda.”Suspects expected in East London court for illegal fishingShe said that the three suspects were arrested in terms of Ordinance 19/1974: Protection of fish in inland waters section 86(1)d and detained at East London police station.”The arrest was done in conjunction with Environmental Affairs,” she added.”All three suspects will appear in the East London Magistrate’s Court on Friday.”Follow more RNEWS articles, subscribe to our YouTube channel and for breaking news LIKE us on Facebook.
