Burglaries are often an unabated issue and are slowly becoming a common crime within many areas.
Here are some ways to assist in this regard:
At the top of the list is an alarm system. Installing an alarm system with a reputable company can assist greatly and can also prevent such crimes from occurring. When an alarm system is installed, emergency buttons are also placed throughout the house. So if an intruder is already in the premises, the button can be pressed. This will inform your security company immediately.
Overgrown bushes can offer an intruder a place to hide. Trim any overgrown bushes so that your house is visible to neighbours and security companies.

Use shades, drapes or blinds to keep potentially tempting household items out of view. Burglary is sometimes a crime of opportunity and ‘window-shopping’ is one way for criminals to choose their next target.
Sliding glass doors are vulnerable. Special locks are available for better security.
Lock all outside doors and windows before you leave the house or go to bed. This should almost be like second nature.
Never leave keys under doormats, flowerpots, mailboxes or other ‘secret’ hiding places as burglars know where to look for hidden keys.
Form a neighbourhood watch! The local police force can also assist. Neighbourhood watches are proving highly beneficial for many areas.
Be a good neighbour. If you notice anything suspicious in your neighborhood, contact the police force immediately. In turn, if your neighbour witnesses any suspicious activity, he or she will also inform you.
