An appeal is being made to the community of Phoenix to ensure that all avenues have been exhausted before reporting a person missing.
Cpt L Naidoo, communications officer at Phoenix SAPS said there is no time frame in reporting a person missing.

“However, the police sit with reports of missing persons whereas the person is not missing at all. The person just decides to visit a relative and not inform anyone and because the person has not come home, the family panics and registers a missing person’s report,” she said.

She urged residents to contact family members and friends of the missing person before reporting.
“Also make sure that you have a recent photograph of the person, who is missing,” she concluded.
