Firefighters are still battling a long active fire line at De Vlugt, about 40 kilometres from Plettenberg Bay in the Southern Cape. Smouldering spots around George has once again engulfed the town in smoke. Authorities say the current wind conditions are not allowing the smoke to move away. Working on Fire spokesperson, Lauren Howard, says aerial resources have been deployed to the George area to assist with any active fires. “There are still active fire lines and smouldering in De Vlugt, Seven Passes, Saasveld, Denneoord and Karatara. Working on Fire aerial resources and a SANDF Oryx will be deployed to assist with active lines in various areas in George. Thus far our aerial resources have flown approximately a 100 hours, dropping close to a million litres of water.” (Image: WoF)

  1. Pray that all stays safe. May it rain heavily over these areas and kill any more flare ups. Praying for all involved.
