Former Bosasa Chief Financial Officer, Andries Van Tonder, has taken the stand at the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture. He told the the commission that because he earned a good salary and lived a comfortable life, he didn’t initially see the need to report the dodgy dealings between Bosasa and government. Van Tonder says, “I became complacent with the illegal conduct I was doing. There was (an) SIU investigation at the time and Gaven Watson assured us that everything was under control because of his connections with government, high up, which was very assuring. My name was also mentioned in the SIU report and I became worried that could be a stumbling block for me to get a job.” Van Tonder is expected to continue his testimony tomorrow.

  1. As a chief financial officer he had an obligation to report dodgy dealings. He is unethical and should be tried in a court of law.

  2. Nice, life comfortable and forget about the rest. Says a lot about his dodgy character. Corruption and greed no wonder the economy is so messed up.
