Businesses in both Canehaven and Industrial Park have been the target of armed gunmen in robberies in the Phoenix area.
In the first incident, the complainant alleged that on Monday, he was at his work premises in Industrial Park when three unknown men entered and asked to buy fabric.

The complainant then pulled out his phone to calculate the costing for the fabric. One of the men suddenly withdrew a firearm, cocked it and pointed it at the victim’s head.
The victim was then searched and the suspect took R55, 000 and the keys to his vehicle. He was told to lay down on the floor.
The suspects then robbed all the customers of their cellphones and left. The complainant then went to his vehicle and noticed that R1, 000 was stolen from the car.
The guard on duty noticed the three suspects leave the premises in a black Clio vehicle.
This was followed by an incident in which the complainant alleged that he was at his tuckshop in Canehaven Drive when four men entered.

Three of the men were armed with firearms which they pointed at him and demanded for cash. They then proceeded to take the cash of about R2,500 from till. An airtime machine and cigarettes were also taken.
Cpt Louise Naidoo, communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, said, “The suspects fled on foot towards Brookdale. No shots were fired during the robbery and no injuries were reported.”
