Victims of two hijacking incidents were lucky enough to escape unharmed when armed gunmen hijacked their vehicles, last week.
In the first incident, the complainant stated that on Thursday, he was seated in his silver VW Sedan with his friend standing outside, next to his vehicle on Limeclay, Clayfield. He then noticed three unknown men coming towards his vehicle.

Suddenly, one of the men pulled out a firearm and pointed it at him and demanded that he get out of his vehicle and hand over his cellphone and car keys.
The other suspect told his friend to keep quite while the third suspect searched his friend. The complainant gave his cellphone and keys to the suspect. Thereafter, all three suspects jumped into the vehicle and drove off.
Communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, Cpt L Naidoo said, “Two credit cards, an ID, a car seat, a Gleben glasses, house keys and groceries worth R2, 000 were inside the vehicle at the time. The suspects also took two cellphones. The complainant’s vehicle is valued at R105, 000. One suspect was wearing a bullet-proof vest.”
The incident comes after another victim, who was driving a white Toyota Siyaya, was at the M25 off-ramp at the Bester taxi rank.
He was with his assistant and a single passenger, who told them that he is jumping off at the rank.

When the taxi stopped for him to jump off, the passenger rose up from the seat and suddenly pulled out a firearm. He told the complainant to get out of the vehicle which he did.
The suspect fired five gunshots and fled towards KwaMashu. Cpt Naidoo said, “No one was injured during the shooting.”
