Jan 11, 2019Drug trafficking in the Port Elizabeth area was dealt a serious blow on Thursday night when police raided a house in Cranwell Street in Humewood extension in Port Elizabeth.”Acting on a ‘tip off’ , at about 16:00, SAPS Humewood members swooped in on the house,” said police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana.”The entire house including the garage and a Wendy house was searched.”Sixteen bags of mandrax tablets (total 13 347 individual tablets), cash to the amount of R103 450 and a cellphone were seized.”Brig Kianana said that it is alleged that the drugs arrived from Khayalitsha, Cape Town, on Thursday morning.”Five suspects (father, mother and their three children), aged between 20 and 58 years old, were arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in drugs,” Brig Kinana said.”They will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Monday.”Humewood mandrax bust welcomedEastern Cape SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga, has warned drug traffickers that the SAPS will stop at nothing in crippling their lucrative trade .”Drug related crimes have no boundaries and there is no higher calling than defeating drug traffickers that threaten the rule of law and undermine the wellbeing and welfare of our people,” added Lt Gen Ntshinga.”I commend the police officers on the sterling arrests and had it not been for their excellent relationship with the community, these criminals would still be going about pursuing their illegal trade.”Follow more RNEWS articles, subscribe to our YouTube channel and for breaking news LIKE us on Facebook.
