IFFSKSA athletes honoured at KZN Karate awards banquet

Sensei Malvin Govender seen with some of the athletes who received their KZN Colours for 2018.

KwaZulu-Natal Karate hosted its annual awards evening recently, where athletes who excelled for the year, received special accolades.
The students, who received their KZN Provincial Colours and National Protea Colours, were indeed privileged to be present at the glittering function.
Twenty students from the International Federation of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate South Africa, headed by Hanshi Eric Govender, attended the ceremony to receive their awards in the respective categories.

Among the 20 athletes who received awards were Zia Pillay, Lauren Munsami and Ashlyn Pillay.
The highlight of the evening was when Sensei Warren Pillay from IFFSKSA was nominated as the ‘Senior Sportsman of the Year’ for KZN Karate 2018 having dominated this weight division provisionally and nationally.
All these athletes are active members of the Champions Karate Academy which is a programme of IFFSKSA run by the technical director, Sensei Malvin Govender (5th dan).
Both Hanshi Eric Govender and Sensei Malvin Govender congratulated all the athletes and expressed how proud they were of them for receiving such prestigious accolades.
They have also acknowledged KZN Karate for honouring these athletes at the event.
