Social media’s local culinary queen, Babez Naidoo, who regularly shares posts of her cuisine on Facebook’s popular group, Appetite,  shares her recipe for the perfect burfee cake.
In celebration of Diwali, kitchens all around the world will be filled with the aroma of decadent sweet and savory treats.
Try out this amazing recipe and add to the sweetness of your Diwali celebration.
You will need:
For cake:
200 g butter
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
I cup semolina
1 cup desiccated coconut
1/2 cup klim
1 1/2 teaspoon ground elachi
3 teaspoon baking powder

For icing
200 grams butter
1 1/2 cups icing sugar
1/2 cup klim
1/2 teaspoon ground elachi
Almonds
Method:
Warm the butter and milk. In a bowl, mix the sugar, flour, semolina, desiccated coconut, klim, ground elachi and baking powder.
Add the warm milk and butter. You can add more warm milk if needed. Bake at 180 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
Icing:
Mix the butter, icing sugar, klim and ground elachi. Beat well. You can now ice the cake and decorate with coloured almonds.
