You will need:
3 cups gram flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp powder egg yellow
2 tbsp butter ghee
1 ½ cups water
1 tsp ground elachi
½ tsp ground nut meg
Coloured almonds for decorating
Oil and butter for deep frying
For the syrup:
3 cups sugar
4 cups water
Add gram flour, baking powder, colouring, ghee and water to a boil and make a smooth batter. Using a spoon, put batter directly into the hot oil and ghee.
Fry till crisp and drain. Put into a dish. Add coconut, elachi and nutmeg. Mix well. Pour the syrup over and leave to soak. Mould into little balls and roll in coloured almonds.
Make the syrup:
Boil sugar and water until mixture is sticky enough to coat the spoon.
Pour over the syrup and leave to soak. Mould into little ball and roll in coloured almonds.
