Insects as a food source is a relatively “untapped market” in the Western World…

Insects as a food source is a relatively “untapped market” in the Western World but it could soon become popular with rising food costs and sustainability issues around food provision. Well, South Africa’s first all-insect restaurant is open for business – and apparently the bugs are delicious! The Insect Experience is a new bug-inspired pop-up restaurant that opened earlier this month in Woodstock. It is taking insect-eating to the next level. The collaborative tasting-style menu is designed by Chef Mario Barnard. You can snack on black-fly-larvae croquettes, mopane polenta, mopani popcorn and many other delicacies.
