International Relations Minister Lindiwe Sisulu has instructed the department to approach diplomatic representatives of five countries following their direct correspondence with the Presidency. The US, UK, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland, through their embassies, wrote to the Presidency warning South Africa to act against corruption. In recent weeks, damning testimony by former Bosasa executives at the Zondo Commission on State Capture have implicated government officials in corrupt dealings with the company. Dirco says the move by the five countries is a departure from established diplomatic practice.

  1. Countries that invest in SA have every right to be concerned about the astronomic level of corruption exposed in the Commission – I certainly would be !!

  2. …also I find it disappointing that any time other countries express concern about corruption in SA, the response from government is to become all sensitive about it, instead of DEALING with the problem, so that these coutries won’t NEED to be concerned…um…duh…
