Vetus Schola Tactical Response Team member shot and wounded during an Armed Escort Attempted Heist:
On Wednesday 20 July 2017 at 08:40, the Vetus Schola Tactical Response Team came under a vicious gunfire attack whilst escorting a vehicle transporting valuable commodities.
Two vehicles, occupied by eight suspects, pulled up next to the Vetus Schola escort vehicle and opened fire using large caliber weapons.
Our Vehicle driver was shot in the chin and twice in the arm but still managed to continue driving which enabled his partner to launch a defensive return attack .
Not expecting a high caliber return attack, the perpetrators had no option but to flee for their lives and abandon the heist.
Expert marksmanship ,fearless resolve and rapid assimilation abilities in a life threatening situation helped our members to remain calm under fire. We are proud to say that our brothers demonstrated that they have the hearts of true warriors.
Their noble and just actions have led to the apprehension of 4 out of the 8 perpetrators, all with gunshot wounds.
One has succumbed to his injuries .
One vehicle has been recovered and the Cargo of valuable commodities was successfully delivered to our client, fully intact.
Our TRT driver is in hospital , in a serious but stable condition.
We salute you gentlemen and are proud to be associated with you.
To the four outstanding thugs, YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN’T HIDE.
We would like to extend our most respectful gratitude to the SAPS for the spectacular support and follow up, and in particular the Hawks, Flying Squad, Dog Unit (K9) and Serious & Violent Crime Unit.
