Jul 20, 2019Port Alfred – The Port Alfred Regional Court on Thursday sentenced Nosibusiso Busi Mangi, aged 24, of Ndlovini Township, in Bathurst, to eight years in prison for culpable homicide.She also received a three-year suspended sentence for five years for attempted murder.According to police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, she was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.”On the 11th November 2018, at around 02:00, the deceased, 25-year-old Sivuyile Kiki Lukwe of Thembisa in Bathurst and his girlfriend (the accused), were asleep in his room when his ex-girlfriend came to fetch some of her personal belongings,” Capt Govender described.”An argument ensued between the couple and the accused, who was armed with a knife, stabbed the deceased several times.”She, thereafter, stabbed the ex-girlfriend several times and fled the scene.”The man died at the scene whilst the ex-girlfriend was taken to a local hospital and thereafter transferred to a hospital in Port Elizabeth as her condition was critical.
