The community of Klipfontein in Midrand want all foreign national shop owners out of their area by 5 pm on Thursday.
The residents have vowed to remove any foreign national shop owner still found in the area by Thursday evening.
This comes after residents protested on Wednesday night, calling for the arrest of a foreign shop owner who had allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl.
Klipfontein resident, Lungile Mamabolo, says the community took the suspect to the police station and laid a charge of rape.
She adds after the community came back from the police station, they decided to remove all other Somali shop owners because of the high levels of distrust.
“Yesterday, when we came back from the police station, we marched about the area and gave them a stern warning, please exit our town, exit our township,” says Mamabolo.
Rabie Ridge police spokesperson, Mofana Masela, confirmed a case was opened at the police on Wednesday night.
“As I speak now, police are investigating a case of rape,” says Masela.
However, he could not confirm the arrest of the suspect.
Masela says police will monitor the planned march by residents in Klipfontein.
