On Friday, August 24, Rydalvale Primary School was securely locked and the alarm was activated.
Dressed to impress, the adorable participants shined as they took to the stage.
In the senior section, Mickara Govender took first position to proceed to the next round of the competition, together with Mickayla Chetty who came second in the junior section.
Jyothi was placed first at district level and qualified to participate in the finals where she competed against various school across KZN.
All three pupils, Ishka Dayaram (grade five), Kyla Irusan (grade six) and Jyothi Ramdhani (grade seven) received medals for their performance.
Some of the schools selected this year included KwaHluzinqondo High and Esizibeni High. Thousands of pupils benefited from a show that had contributors participating largely as volunteers.
FOSA initiated the competition to encourage youngsters to become aware of various life-threatening illnesses.
This brought great honour to the school and the pupils.
Pupils participated in three categories: speech, poetry and show and tell.
A floating trophy that was donated by Dr Sanesha Moodliar was presented to the most outstanding, deserving and inspiring grade 12 pupil, who was Ammaarah Akoon.
The outstanding pupils were congratulated by Whetstone Primary School principal, his staff and the entire school.
