Apr 5, 2019Relatively good weather expected for 2019 Standard Bank IRONMAN African ChampionshipPort Elizabeth – The hundreds of athletes, who have descended on the Nelson Mandela Bay, and the thousands of spectators expected to throng the Summerstrand beachfront for the 2019 Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championship, will be relieved to know that the Port Elizabeth office of the SA Weather Service is predicting a mostly sunny and clear day on Sunday.On Saturday, however,  the Kids’ IRONMAN contestants will have to battle it out under mostly cloudy skies.The weather will start clearing on Saturday afternoon as the IRONMAN competitors put the final touches to their preparations.Athletes from all over South Africa, as well as international athletes from more than 40 different countries have already entered to participate in the 2019 Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championship in Nelson Mandela Bay. Among them is 34-year-old amputee and former Nyaope (a street drug in South Africa) user, Xolani Luvuno, whose story has captured the hearts of the nation.Forecast for IronmanSaturday 6th April 2019TimeWind Km/hSwell (m)Temp °CWeather08h00ENE’y 15 – 25South 2.2 but choppy East secondary swell18Mostly cloudy.
