Leaders of the trade union, NUMSA, are expected to address the MyCiti bus workers involved in an unprotected strike in Cape Town this morning. The strike involving bus drivers, cleaners and security guards entered its third day today. The workers, supported by the EFF have been demontrating outside the Civic Centre asking the City fo Cape Town to intervene. Companies employing them have been contracted by the City to operate MYCITI bus services. The workers are demanding among others, to be insourced. The majority of the MyCiTi routes are still not operational. The City’s Mayoral committee member for Transport, Brett Herron, has called on the companies involved and the strikers to resolve their impasse in order to end the strike. The majority of the MyCiTi routes are still not operational.
