Justice was served when a 37-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, rape, five years for kidnapping and an additional five years for house break-in, recently.
Mofokeng Thabane was convicted after the court heard how he committed the heinous crimes in 2016.

Provincial police spokeswoman, Col Thembeka Mbhele said it is alleged that on December 25 at about 10am, Sipho Thusi (40) was assaulted with a stick by the accused after an argument ensued while they were consuming alcohol.
“Thusi was taken to hospital after he sustained head injuries. He later passed away. The accused fled the scene after the incident. On December 26, at about 4am, a 26-year-old victim was asleep at home when the accused broke into the house and dragged her out to his friend’s house where she was raped,” she explained.

The victim managed to escape after the ordeal and reported the matter to her sister.
Charges of murder and rape were opened at the local police station.
The accused was arrested on December 27 and brought before court. His bail application was opposed and he was kept in custody until his sentencing.
